What are your hours of operation?
Office hours are Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 4.30pm. Operational hours for pre-booked services are generally 8.00am to 5.00pm, with the exception of the dialysis shuttle.
Do I have to live in the Ryde or Hunters Hill areas to use Stryder’s community transport service?
For passengers wishing to access the Government-subsidised rates, you need to live in the Ryde or Hunters Hill Local Government Areas, otherwise we are often able to assist people who live in surrounding suburbs at our standard rates.
What areas does your community transport service travel to?
Our everyday and medical transport operates within Sydney Metro, along with our NDIS service. Our group shopping trips operate within Ryde and Hunters Hill. Our social trips travel around Greater Sydney, including Central Coast, Wollongong and Blue Mountains.
Do you provide transport for dialysis patients?
Yes, we operate a dialysis shuttle Monday, Wednesday and Friday to Royal North Shore Hospital. Tuesday and Thursday may be possible, on application.
Do you have wheelchair-accessible vehicles?
Yes, we have three vehicles with lifts. Passengers can either travel in their wheelchair, or transfer to seat.
Do you follow COVID-19 safety protocols?
Yes, we take your safety very seriously. Vehicles are sanitised throughout the day and at the beginning and end of each shift; drivers and clients wear masks (subject to public health orders); infrared thermometers may be used to check temperatures, and physical distancing may be practiced.
Are you a registered NDIS Provider?
Yes, we are. Eligible participants may request an NDIS transport quote HERE.
Can you provide transport for people on Home Care Packages?
Yes, simply let your Home Care Package Provider know you would like to use Stryder for your transport, provide us with their details and we will set up an Agreement with them on your behalf. You may be interested in our popular social outing program.
Can I hire your bus?
Yes, our buses and vans are available for hire by individuals, community groups or businesses.
I’m registered with My Aged Care; how do I access your subsidised service?
Simply ring My Aged Care on 1800 200 422 and ask to be referred to Stryder (Community Transport, Ryde Hunters Hill) for transport. Alternatively, you may ask My Aged Care for a referral code for community transport, and provide this number to Stryder’s client service team. Subsidies are available for those eligible for the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) services.
Do your community transport drivers stay with clients at destination?
Not for our everyday and medical appointments. However, all services are door-to-door and our drivers will see you safely inside. For social trips the do drivers stay with the group, along with a volunteer social assistant. For group shopping trips, it varies.
Can my carer or family member travel with me?
Yes, there is no extra cost for a carer or single family member, as long as they are being picked up at the same address. Just advise us of the extra passenger when making your booking.
How can I make a community transport booking?
Once you have registered with Stryder you can make a booking via the website, email or telephone. You will receive an automated call the business day before your booking to confirm your trip and provide you with your estimated pickup time.
Is community transport free?
No, however, eligible clients receive a subsidised rate as Stryder is a Government contracted community transport service provider. Preferred payment option is by direct debit; however, other options are available.
